Me gustaría agradecer personalmente a Ana Fernández Sesma, microbióloga de la Facultad de medicina Icahn Mount Sinai -New York-  EEUU, por la entrevista1 concedida al blog OSICO en julio de 2020 donde tuve la oportunidad de aprender mucho del conocimiento de esta investigadora del mundo de los virus, en especial del virus del SARS-CoV-2. El cambio climático, la pérdida de la biodiversidad y la deforestación afecta los ecosistemas. Los animales han sido desplazados de sus hábitats como consecuencia de nuestro modelo actual de desarrollo.  Como señala la microbióloga: “Todo esto tiene consecuencias relacionadas con la aparición de nuevos patógenos que antes estaban más lejos de nuestro entorno inmediato, además de que desaparecen depredadores y surgen plagas, que como dice la microbióloga: “todos los virus “zoonóticos” están relacionados con estos desafíos medioambientales, el entrar en contacto con estos virus que anteriormente no han estado en contacto con los humanos”.
